Editorial standards
What every story and report carries, and what you can hold us to.
Every story is signed
Each story names its author and the editor who checked it. You will find both at the foot of the story.
Every story is sourced
Stories list their sources at the end. Charts name where their data comes from, and every chart has a table of the same figures for readers who prefer numbers.
Every story is timestamped
We show when a story was published. If we change a published story in a way that matters, we show when it was updated and what changed. See our corrections policy.
Opinion is labelled
Each story has a type: market brief, analysis, explainer, report or opinion. Opinion is always labelled as opinion, and always signed.
Every story answers three questions
What happened, why it matters and what to watch next. We write the answers in plain language, so that a reader with a minute to spare can still leave with the point.
Independence and disclosure
Starks Newsroom is published by Starks Associates, a financial services company. Where a story concerns Starks, its products, its customers or its partners, we say so in the story.
